Richmond register tenth outright win

Richmond college registered their tenth outright win for the season
defeating St Thomas College Matara by eight wickets at Uyanwatta last
Tuesday (12th).
Put in to bat Richmond were all out for 238 runs. Charith Asalanka
scored 134 runs in 192 balls which included nineteen boundaries and a
six. Right arm off spinner Lasith Lakshan captured six wickets. STC
Matara were 46/3 at stumps on day one and were bowled out for 118 half
an hour before lunch. A K Tyron captured four wickets for twenty four
runs.
On being asked to follow with a deficit of 120 runs the Thomian’s
managed to register a total of 151 thanks to a 104 run partnership for
the third wicket by Hashan Vimarshana 62 and Ishan Maduranga 58.
It is a pity that the other batsmen did not build on from the
strength of being on 135/3 and lost the next seven wickets for 16 runs.
Richmond set with a victory target of 32 won the game in style with a
towering six from Chamod Piumal.
