He never gets angry
“I have never seen him in an angry mood,” said the elderly person who
had associated a certain young man of the village.
“But sure you have not seen him losing temper,” responded another in
the gathering.
“No, as far as I know, he is the most saintly young man in the
village. He is certainly an ideal person,” said the first man who opened
the discussion.
“I like to test him to see how far you are correct.”
“But how are you going to do it?” Asked a third person who was
interested in the discussion.
“If you trouble or torment him, won’t he get angry?” the second man
was making plans to test the young man.
“You may do anything, but I am sure he will not get angry,” insisted
the first man.
“How can such a young man be so saintly? I am sure he could be made
to be angry if we apply a good test,” insisted the second person who
disagreed with the first person.
“So go and apply any method, please.”
As they were discussing this matter, the young man was seen walking
slowly alone, in a contemplative mood. He turned his head to see a
gathering.
Then he bowed his head to the elders and smiled. Then he resumed
walking. The man who wanted to test the anger of the young man who
walked like a saint, left the gathering and walked behind the young man.
He made several plans to testify whether young man would be angry. “Are
you a pretentious saint?” Asked the man.
The young man responded.
“Do you think so?”
“Yes you have a devilish mind, but you pretend to be a saint.”
“Is that how you see me?”
“Yes.”
“I am happy to hear that.”
Once again the young man walked slowly, ignoring the man who rebuked
him. But the man who wanted to test the anger had more plans. He wanted
to walk in front of him with a club in his hand. The man disguised
himself like a highway robber. Then he jumped down in front of the young
man to create a torment.
“You rascal, give me all you belongings,” said the highway robber.
“Take whatever you like, if you see anything worth to take from me,”
replied the young man.
The robber looked at the man from the head downwards. But the young
man showed no disturbance, at all. Seeing no apparent anger or torment,
he wanted to apply another plant of action. Once again he walked behind
the saintly young man.
At a particular moment he gave him a thundering knock on the young
man’s head. It was so painful that he young man could not resist. But he
tried his best to bear the pain. The man ran away into a hiding to see
the response. The young man did not look around for any help.
Several travelers were walking past the spot. They stopped to see the
young man trying his best to bear a bodily pain.
“What is your problem?” Some of them asked.
“I do not know what it is. It looks as if somebody had hit me hard on
my head.’
“May be a highway robber,” they said.
“I do not know.”
“We must catch hold of the culprit and punish him instantly.”
“No, please do not harm anybody. It may be a fault of mine, which I
had never realized.
The travellers were surprised and calmness of the young man devoid of
any anger and ill will. The culprit who wanted to test the young man
came out of his hiding. He venerated the young man and said.
“I am sorry I am that culprit. Please forgive me for what I have
done.”
“No, you have not done any harm. Therefore I have no reason to
forgive you.”
The man returned to the gathering of others.
“I tried my best to make that young man angry. But I failed. I now
realized that he is a saint.”
