SLASSCOM Salary and Benefits Survey published
The Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM)
together with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) have published the SLASSCOM
Salary and Benefits Survey for the third consecutive year.
This report provides an in-depth analysis of the emerging HR trends
and issues of Sri Lankan IT and ITES industry, while providing a
comprehensive understanding of the employee retention strategies
executed by industry players.
The report also analyzes a wide range of job positions and the
benefit packages offered by companies to retain employees. In addition
to this, the sample of the study comprises small, medium and large IT,
ITES, BPO and KPO companies operating in Sri Lanka, providing a broad
industry perspective on HR practices.
Commenting on the recently released report, ,Sujiva Dewaraja,
Chairman SLASSCOM, reiterated, “The Salary and Benefits Survey 2013 is
published for the third consecutive year together with PwC in order to
provide a reliable source of data for the existing players in the
industry, as well as for prospective entrants to assist the decision
making process.
The findings of the survey highlight that the IT/ITES industry offers
attractive salary and benefit packages for the young job seekers.
Further, Sri Lanka is also identified as one of the most cost effective
off shoring destinations, offering a wide range of services.
In addition to capturing salary scales of the industry, the report
also offers several other insights to the HR practices of the industry.
For example, the findings of the survey reveals that during the past
three year period, both IT and ITES sectors have shown a significant
expansion in terms of headcount numbers with average annualized staff
growth rates of 21% and 14% by the IT and ITES sector respectively.
This report is another initiative taken by SLASSCOM in reaching the
targets of one billion dollars of export revenue by ˙ear 2016 and
creating over 80,000 high paying jobs within the country?
The report provides a wide range of statistical data, such as market
mean, median and percentiles for job positions in the IT sector, ITES
sector and support functions.
Therefore, it provides the opportunity for the reader to capture
great understanding of the compensation and the benefits structure of
the industry.
The report also covers entry level salary scales of selected job
positions to provide a benchmark to the fresh graduates and school
leaver salary scales in IT/ITES sector of Sri Lanka. Adding more value
to the report, local salary data are also bench marked against the
regional salary data in order to highlight the competitiveness of HR
practices in the country.
