Samsung unveiled a wide range of consumer electronic products and new
enterprise services for the Indian market at the Samsung Southwest East
forum held in Hyderabad International Convention Centre from February 27
to March 02.
The products that were unveiled at the forum include Galaxy Note 510
,Premium F8000 LED TV, 85S9 an 85-inch ultra high definition TV, new
wabble washer,NX300 camera and 45 mm 2D/3D lens and series 7 Chronos PC
and the new Samsung refrigerator (RT42).
The forum showcased the latest Samsung Galaxy Note 510, the new
addition to its Galaxy family. Combining the best of a tablet, note,
diary and an eBook reader, it aims at providing an enhanced
functionality with less bulk.. The Galaxy Note 510 comes with a 16GB for
internal storage, an external micro SD slot along with its unique S Pen
experience.
The flagship F8000 LED TV is the first Samsung television to feature
a quad –core processor. This latest TV features an ultra-thin profile,
quarter -inch thick bezel and is available in sizes upto 65 inches.
Samsung also introduced its 85-inch UHD television, the 85S9 with
Samsung timeless gallery design and the screen appears to be floating
within the frame, which incidentally nests an array of speakers,
producing an unprecedented 120w of sound.
Atul Jain, Vice President, consumer electronics, commenting on the
television market said that the big screen TVs are growing rapidly and
consumers demand for a 60-inch and above TVs with advanced technological
features. We could see a growing demand for companion devices like
tablets and mobiles as second screens and Samsung is geared to cater to
the consumers’ requirement.
Addressing the Samsung Forum , B.D. Park, President and CEO, Samsung
Southwest Asia said, innovation and discovery are the key principles of
Samsung Business and this drives its goal to enable consumers to
discover a world of possibilities with the latest technology.”
“We work in a dynamic region and consumers are looking for technology
that will not complicate their life style, but enrich and empower them
day by day,” Park stated.
Samsung announced its plans to become the global leaders in the
enterprising market and Uday Bhat, Samsung’s Vice President, IT
business, said enterprise would be the next evolution from Samsung
perspective.
Accordingly, Samsung is planning to record 10% of its revenues in the
Southwest Asia market from the enterprise segment this year.
The Company is expected to get about a quarter of the revenues from
this segment by 2020, globally.
“Enterprise spectrum is a potential area that Samsung is eyeing and
we have already established our presence in the enterprise space from
medical solutions, printing solutions and many more.
We are going into technologies like healthcare and medical, retail
and energy which are typically non consumers,” Bhat stated.
The company also announced the launch of the Samsung Technology
Enterprise Programme (STEP), which will assist enterprises grow in
business.
Samsung recorded a sale of $ 200 billion in the past years, whilst it
has achieved more than 35 % growth during the same period in the
Southwest Asia region. Samsung has also tripled its growth rate in this
region over the last there years.

Taiwan touch-panel maker TPK to invest $1 bln
Taiwan's TPK Holding, a leading manufacturer of touch screens for
Apple, will invest up to Tw$30 billion ($1.01 billion) this year to meet
robust demand for mobile and other devices, media reported Sunday.
The capital will be used to raise production on the island and in
China's coastal Fujian province, company chairman Michael Chiang said
while breaking ground for a new plant in central Taiwan Saturday. Its
existing research and development unit in Taiwan will also be expanded,
he said, according to the Economic Daily News and the Commercial Times.
The company's touch screens are used in smartphones, tablet PCs,
notebook PCs, electronic books and other consumer electronic items.
The company saw its revenue surge to $5.98 billion in 2012 from $4.74
billion in 2011.
