Lankan jailed, fined for forging cheque in Malaysia
A Sri Lankan man was sentenced to five years' jail and fined
RM20,000, in default 20 months' jail, by the Sessions Court of Petaling
Jaya, Malaysia yesterday for forging a cheque, involving more than
RM15,000, last year.
Judge Suraiya Mustafa Kamal handed down the sentence on the man aged
27 after he changed his plea to guilty, to be served from the date of
his arrest on August 17, 2012.
The man was charged with forging the cheque at a bank at Jalan SS
15/2A, Subang, at 2pm on August 1 last year. Prosecution was conducted
by deputy public prosecutor Ching Kian Chun.
