Rs 500 m to develop SPC education

Rs 500 million has been allocated to develop educational activities
for the current year in the Southern province, Southern Provincial
Education Minister Chandima Rasaputhra said.
He was addressing as the chief invitee at a ceremony at the primary
school at Thihagoda to admit children to grade one this year.
Plans are under way to enhance physical and human resources in all
primary and secondary schools in the region, Rasaputhra said.
He said laboratories and computer laboratories are to be set up in
schools which do not have these facilities. "Facilities would be
enhanced to study English, Science and Information Technology in all
schools in the Southern region," Rasaputhra said.
"The aim of the Southern Provincial Council Education Ministry is to
provide a sound education to children in the region," he said.
Hakmana Mulatiyana zonal director of education R Weerakon said the
standard of education of the children in the South has significantly
improved under this administration.
Initiatives are being taken to offer equal educational facilities to
all by the Southern Provincial Council Education Ministry," he said.
