Additional measures to ensure safety of women and children

The Women and Child Development Focal Point Officers have been appointed to every ministry by the Child Development and Women's Affairs Ministry with the aim of preventing all types of violence against women and to create a free, safe and suitable environment for children to grow up and have an education.

Minister Tissa Karaliyedda said the first batch who completed the training comprising 53 graduate trainees would be directed to relevant ministries from February 1. The new appointments were handed over by the minister yesterday morning at the ministry auditorium. The duties of these newly appointed officers encompass 18 fields. This move was initiated by the Child Development and Women's Affairs Ministry in coordination with the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry.
