He sold 13,200 lts of diesel illegally

Wariyapola Police have commenced a search operation to arrest a driver attached to the Horowpothana filling station who is evading police arrest after illegally selling 13,200 litres of diesel to a private filling station in Alawwa.

The police further reported that the suspect who loaded a bowzer of fuel from the Sapugaskanda refinery to be transported to the Horowpothana filling station, stopped on the way at Wariyapola for his assistant to buy a bottle of water and drove away with the load of fuel .The Police found the empty bowzer abandoned at Navinna junction, Kurunegala on the following day.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect had taken the load of fuel to a private filling station in Alawwa and had sold it for Rs 1.8 million. The owner of the filling station that illegally purchased the diesel load was taken into to custody on Sunday. He was later placed in protective custody after being produced before the Wariyapola magistrate.
