The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) lifesaving unit saved a student from
drowning in the Balapitiya sea.
SLCG sources said Sadun Maduwantha, 11, of Maradana, Balapitiya had
been bathing with his mother and a friend near the Life Saving Training
School of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard at Balapitiya on Sunday.
Both children were playing and swimming in the sea when Sadun was
dragged away suddenly.
His shouts to his mother had alerted the lifeguards on duty.
Able Seaman A G W K N Sampath and Able Seaman B T Priyankara
responded quickly and brought the child ashore.
He was laid in the recovery position by lifesavers who also provided
first aid.
The child who recovered was taken to the Balapitiya Base Hospital for
a further medical checkup.
This is the 51st life saved by the SLCG life saving team. |
