Welfare fund for SP media men

Southern Provincial Council will establish a welfare fund for the registered media men of the province.

Financial allocations for the fund will be made from the Provincial Council Fund and voluntary contributions from provincial councillors from their members’ grants under Provincial Development Plan. It is also hoped to collect donations from individuals and private organizations willing to contribute.

The fund would be utilized to felicitate senior journalists who have rendered a valuable service in the field and provide financial assistance for media men, Chief Minister Shan Wijeyalal de Silva said.
