Maket maintains positive momentum
The market continued its upward march with both the main indices
gaining further ground. The Colombo benchmark, the All Share Price Index
(ASPI) gained 0.22% (12.73 points) over Tuesday's close to end at
5,883.66 points. The S&P SL 20 Index (S&P) rose by 0.23% (7.23 points)
and ended at 3,191.80 points.
Market turnover narrowed down to LKR 1,274.05 Mn with a volume of
37.86 Mn shares transacting during the day. The top turnover generators
for the day were Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (COMB), Environmental
Resources Investments PLC (GREG), Peoples Leasing & Finance PLC (PLC),
Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) and Central Finance Company PLC (CFIN).
The above counters accounted for 70% of the total market turnover.
The banking counter, COMB continued to witness high value crossings
which helped the counter to end the day as the highest turnover
generator. COMB generated a total turnover of LKR 630.66 Mn, out of
which LKR 537.27 Mn was contributed by the off the floor trades. A
volume of 5.1 Mn shares traded through the five crossings at a uniform
price of LKR.104.00. The counter ended the day at LKR 104.10, losing
0.10% (LKR 0.10) over the previous yesterdays close.
GREG generated a turnover of LKR 102.87 Mn over a volume of 5.36 Mn
