Youths remanded for theft

Two youths who stole a grinder machine and four welding rolls valued at Rs 24,000 from a house in Biyagama were arrested by the Biyagama Police.

The Police also recovered the stolen goods. The suspects are residents of Bandarawatta.

The suspects produced before Mahara magistrate Sahan Mapa Bandara were remanded. Meanwhile, a woman died and her son escaped without any injuries when the motorcycle they were riding, crashed onto a container on the Belummahara - Kaduwela Road. The woman aged 52, a mother of three, was identified as S D Chandrawathi Padmaseeli of Divlapitiya.

The motorcycle was badly damaged.

Biyagama Police are investigating.
