launched by Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Trade and
Environment for the Western Province, Udaya Gammampila, BVM Global
Chairman Ramana Prasad and Founder Director Hussain Sadique (Deputy
Managing Director Hameedia Group). Also present were the members of the
Project Team and several well wishers.
Speaking at the project launch, Chief Guest, Udaya Gammampila spoke
of the importance of a wholesome education which would mould all-rounded
human beings.
Northwood Global College is probably the only high profile corporate
sponsored school that has entered this particular educational segment.
It includes a sound value-based education incorporating traditional
cultural values and leadership with a truly global outlook.
BVM also is well known for nurturing young minds into successful
individuals, a specialty which it has developed over a period of 50
years. This was possible because of its positive thinking and the proper
physical, physiological, social and cultural growth inculcated into the
students. It also ensures self-confidence which is reflected throughout
their lives.
“Northwood Global College will cater to a vital sector of our
society, mainly students who are deprived of a proper quality education
as a result of overcrowding of existing schools and financial
constraints, thus depriving these deserving students of achieving their
fullest potential. The primary objective of this college is to help such
children gain access to quality education at an affordable price”, said
NGC’s Head of Academic Ms. Kumari Wickramasinghe. One of the co-founders
Hussain Sadique who’s also Deputy Managing Director of Hameedia said,
“The school will operate from three strategic locations.
They are Cotta Road in Borella, Greendlands Avenue off Isipathana
Mawatha and Robert Gunawardane Mawatha in Battaramulla, prior to moving
into its permanent and purpose-built premises in Sri Jayawardenepura
Kotte by 2015/16. Although a private school, all students are required
to be dressed in a white school uniform”, he said. |
