Sri Lanka Insurance launches ‘Drivers’ Protect Insurance Cover

Sri Lanka Insurance in collaboration with the Departmant of Motor
Traffic launched the “Drivers’ Protection Insurance Cover” for the first
time in Sri Lanka. This optional insurance scheme stands out from the
rest as it is an affordable insurance coverage for all license holders
under the age group of 18 to 70.

“This product is aimed for the betterment of the country’s vehicle
uses as the amount of motor accidents has grown largely during the
previous years. The Drivers’ Protection Insurance Cover will extend a Rs
250,000 cover and will be a Personal Accident Cover for all light
vehicle drivers for a nominal premium of Rs 500 for a period of eight
years while it will also provide heavy vehicle drivers an insurance of
Rs 250,000 at a nominal premium of Rs 250 for a period of four years,”
Managing Director of Sri Lanka Insurance, Mohan De Alwis said.
According to Executive Director of Sri Lanka Insurance, Piyadasa
Kudabalage this insurance will cover death and permanent disability. In
case of death the insurance coverage will pay the sum insured to the
beneficiaries.
“The insurance can be claimed at the time of the accident or after,
we have a vigilant team who are constantly on field all day long. We
will ensure that the sum insured will be paid within a few minutes since
contacting,” Kudabalage told Daily News Business.
The insurance scheme will be available for vehicle users at Sri Lanka
Insurance branches.
Sri Lanka Insurance has maintained a steady market leadership in
General Insurance and stands as the largest & strongest insurer in the
country with the largest asset base in the industry amounting to 109
billion, the largest life insurance fund of Rs 57 billion and a strong
capitalization of Rs 6 billion.
