Errol Seneviratne passes away
Errol Seneviratne, an International Umpire of high repute and
integrity died on Wednesday.
Seneviratne was educated at St. Peter's College, Colombo where he
excelled both in cricket and boxing. Having embarked on a career with
Royal Ceylon Air Force, he went on to represent Royal Ceylon Air Force
Cricket Team in the Defence Services Circuit and showed his prowess in
the game with an impressive record.
Errol had the rare honour of officiating England County matches
during his heyday as an International Umpire. Upon retirement from
umpiring he had a stint as Tour Coordinator for Sri Lanka Cricket.
Besides, he also came to limelight as a TV presenter.
He leaves behind his wife Punya, daughter Sharmini, Rohan and
Dharshana.
His funeral takes place today at General Cemetery - Borella. Cortage
leaves Residence at 393/9, School Lane, Pannipitiya Road, Thalawathugoda. |
