A good all-round performance by Nivantha Herath helped Future Stars
Cricket Academy Kandy to register a 166 run win over Wesswood
International School, Katugastota in their 9th Nelson Mendis trophy
group F under 14 cricket tournament match played at Katugastota
yesterday.
Nivantha Herath was in fine form with the bat as he blasted a quick
fire 103 not out in only 54 balls with the and of 17 fours and 1 six and
was associated in a third wicket stand of 137 with Chathuranga Aludeniya
who made 48 with 8 fours. Nivantha Herath needed are run off the last
ball to reach his century and a beautiful square cut for four took him
to three figures. Wesswood International school needed 280 to win at the
rate of over 9 runs per over and they could make only 113 for 9 in their
30 overs. Mohamed Umair made 58 with 7 fours and 1 six off 57 balls.
Nivantha Herath was the pick of the bowlers capturing 3 for 32 to
complete a good all-round performance. Future Stars Cricket Academy are
now in the Super 12 of this tournament.
