Best policemen rewarded

Cash rewards amounting to Rs 24 million were granted to Police officers who had rendered a special service in curbing crime in the Kurunegala division.

The rewards were presented to the Police officers at a function held at the St Anne's College auditorium, Kurunegala, which was presided over by Deputy Inspector General of Police (NWP) Ashoka Wijethilaka.

Officers attached to Kurunegala, Wariyapola, Gokarella, Polpithigama, Mavathagama, Alawwa, Pothuhera, Rideegama, Wellawa and Weerambugedara Police stations received the rewards.

Eighty one officers received cash rewards ranging from Rs 15,000 to Rs 100,000 and 748 officers received rewards below Rs 15,000.
