President participates in dana for 1,000 theras

President Mahinda Rajapaksa participated in an alms giving for 1,000 Buddhist monks at the Ruwanweli Seya premises, Anuradhapura yesterday.

Lankaramadhipathi Ven Walapanave Dhammajothi Thera and Ruwanveli Seya Viharadhipathi Ven Pallegama Hemarathana Thera delivered special anusasanas. The President offered dana to the monks.

President Rajapaksa also opened a special pathway for the disabled and elderly devotees to enter the Ruwanweli Seya compound. The President also opened the Dolos Mahe Dansela (the 12 month dansala) for the second year held opposite the Ruwanweli Seya.

He also served devotees who worshiped the Sri Maha Bodhiya, Ruwanweli Seya, Lankaramaya etc with meals at the dansela.

President Rajapaksa also issued certificates to those who helped conduct the Dolos Mahe Dansela last year.
