Badulla hospital limits MRI scanning

Restriction on MRI scanning at the Badulla General Hospital for one day of the week on Friday has caused delays in emergency surgical operations inconveniencing a large number of patients at the hospital.

Patients from distant places such as Moneragala, Bibile, Buttala, Passara, Batticaloa, Samanturai, Kalmunai, Akkarapattuwa, Ampara, Embilipitiya, Wellawaya, Haputale, Hatton, Talawakelle, Welimada seek treatment at the hospital which is a major hospital in the region.

Earlier, MRI scanning was done all five week days at the hospital. This has been restricted to Friday from August.

The waiting list for MRI scanning runs up to 2013.
