Taprobane to open in Jaffna
Taprobane Seafoods (TSF) a new company in Sri Lanka will open two
crab processing facilities in Jaffna and Kilinochchi making a
significant milestone in the development of the fishery industry.
"We started operations in January 2011 and are involved in the
purchase and processing of crab, tuna, cuttlefish, squid and reef fishes
for export markets, mainly the USA.
We are firmly committed to long term investment in Sri Lanka and to
support efforts for the sustainable management and utilization of the
fishery resources so as to create long term jobs, improve livelihoods
and at the same time ensure a reasonable return on our investments, an
official from the company said.
"We currently employ 700 people in Sri Lanka and hope to gradually
increase that number as our business develops."
This building was built to international processing and environmental
standards. |
