Dies on admission to hospital
Sixty year old K D Jothipala of Baseline road , Borella who was
rescued after nearly drowning at the Nilaweli beach succumbed on
admission to the Trincomalee hospital. He was on a trip to Trincomalee.
Kuchchaweli police led investigations.
Youth ends life
Katugasthota Police have commenced an investigation to the death of a
17 year old youth whose body was found hanging from the roof of his
house in Katugasthota on Saturday.
The deceased was from Etadurungagoda. The body was sent to Kandy
hospital morgue for post mortem.
Meanwhile, another man committed suicide by jumping into a well on
the same day in Mahagalkadawala in Galgamuwa. Galgamuwa Police are
investigating
Nabbed with fake currency
Horowpothana Police on Saturday arrested a suspect with a fake Rs.
2,000 note.
The man was arrested when he tried to purchase alcohol by producing
the fake note at a bar in Horowpothana. He was produced in
Kebithigollewa Magistrate’s Court .
Over Rs. 4,8m heroin seized
Officers attached to STF headquarters on Saturday arrested a suspect
with 605 grammes of heroin in his possession in Kotikawaththa.
The value of the seized heroin is estimated at over Rs 4.8 million.
The suspect , a resident of Rajagiriya was handed over to Police
Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
Dispute leads to death
Forty six year old J Somasiri Silva of Ukkalla, Anguruwathota who was
stabbed with sharp weapons succumbed at the Horana hospital last
morning.
Investigations revealed that a personal dispute has triggered the
incident. Anguruwathota Police have commenced a search operation to
arrest the suspects.
Arrested for transporting cannabis
A suspect who had been arrested while transporting 37 kilos of
cannabis in a double cab was remanded until November 5 by the
Embilipitiya Magistrate.
The 31 year old suspect, a resident of Panamura was arrested by
Embilipitiya Police on Friday at Thorakolayaya.
Alawathugoda Police also arrested four suspects,including a woman for
transporting 4.922 kilos of cannabis in a car at Kurugoda junction in
Alawathugoda on Saturday. Further investigations are continuing. |
