Royalists bag St. Eugene’s Trophy

Royal College proved their dominance in the St. Eugene's Cup basketball tournament by bagging two titles when the annual five-a-side tournament concluded its 2012 version in grand style at the Police Park basketball courts yesterday. Royal senior team walked away with the St. Eugene's challenge trophy when they beat All Greens BC comfortably 21-7 in the Cup Championship final.

Carlton Cup basketball progresses for second week

Some exciting basketball games were on showcase during the past week in the Carlton Cup 2012 Basketball Championship worked off at two venues in Colombo. The 2012 version of Carlton Cup has been a more competitive event than the three previous versions and it has just completed its first week. The fourth version of Carlton Cup 2012 commenced at the Police Park courts on October 19.

South Africa win Hong Kong Sixers Cup Championship

Colin Ingram played a captain’s knock with the bat and then came back and proved he is no mean bowler too, as he led South Africa to a sweet Cup victory over Pakistan at the Karp Group Hong Kong Sixes on Sunday. Ingram smacked an unbeaten 34 and then grabbed three wickets in a superb all-round performance as South Africa romped to a 37-run win to deny Pakistan a record sixth Cup title at the Hong Kong Sixes. It was South Africa’s fourth Cup championship.

Pettersen seals back-to-back Asian wins

Norway’s Suzann Pettersen lifted her second trophy in as many weeks Sunday after a three-shot victory at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship. The world number seven braved strong winds and fired three-under-par 69 in her final round to snatch the win from South Korea’s Park In-Bee, who had led by two overnight but had to settle for second.
