Sound education for every child a must

Having a sound education for every child should be a must for
achieving better future prospects in life and a higher social status as
well, Matara District Parliamentarian Hemal Gunasekera said. He was
addressing a meeting at the Thihagoda Primary School recently.
The M.P. said, "The country's education and the socio-economy, have
currently been very competitive. At the moment, an increasing number of
children are obtaining higher educational qualifications. All teachers
have the national responsibility of creating a decent society with
higher qualities, knowledge and skills. For such persons, nothing would
be impossible in life although they are challenging".
Gunasekera further said, "The hope and wish of parents are to afford
a sound education to their children and make them better citizens in the
country. Trilingual skills for students at school level would also be
indispensable to avert an intellectual retardation in the island. The
linguistic disparity had paved the way for ethnic disunity. English is
the key to universal knowledge and without English, it would be hardly
possible to cope with the modern world".
The Thihagoda Primary School has obtained good results in the Year
Five examination in the Thihagoda Educational Divisional. Hemal
Gunasekera expressed his grateful thanks to the Principal, the teaching
staff, students and their parents for their hard endeavors to reach this
goal. Gunasekera pledged to fulfill the short-comings in the school.
Several others also spoke at the event. |
