Woman with heroin nabbed in court

A woman was arrested with 1.29 grammes of heroin at the Mount Lavinia magistrates court. The woman, a resident of Rajagiriya, was produced before the Mount Lavinia magistrate yesterday.

Three held with arms

Puttalam Police arrested three suspects with two 12 bore shot guns, a mortar shot gun, pieces of led and two bullets. The suspects were produced before the Puttalam magistrate yesterday.

Suspects in thefts remanded

A businessman and a motor mechanic arrested for a series of thefts and stealing vehicles, were remanded by the Kaduwela magistrate.

The Mirihana Special Crime Operations Unit arrested the suspects on Wednesday.

They allegedly broke into a house in Padukka to rob cash and property.

They had also stolen a three wheeler in Navagamuwa and also cheated a vehicle renting firm after hiring a luxury car.

The Police found the stolen goods and the stolen van.

Investigations are continuing.

Boy electrocuted

A 13 - year - old boy was electrocuted when he touched an earth wire of an electrical post while playing on a banana trunk opposite his house in Negombo on Wednesday.

The boy touched the wire when he lost balance.

Op to arrest murder suspects

Kirindiwela Police commenced a search operation to arrest suspects wanted for the murder of a 66 - year - old woman.

The woman’s body was found lying in her house in Wathuragama, Kirindiwela.

Police said K Anula of Laulupitiya, who was living alone, was slashed to death.

Suspects arrested

Matara Police arrested two suspects who helped seize a fishing trawler in the Southern seas.

Police earlier arrested the owner and the boat used in the crime.

Ten persons in a boat approached the trawler and slashed six fishermen and threw them out of the vessel.

Two victims were rescued by a merchant vessel on Tuesday. Investigations are continuing.
