The Sri Lanka Social Security Board (SLSSB) unveiled a new pension
plan which enables parents to contribute and ensure benefits for their
children under 18 years.
This new pension plan called "Arakshawa" was launched in celebration
of the International Day of Girl Child to fulfil the social
responsibility of ensuring social security.
Accordingly two children who passed Grade 5 Scholarship examination
with high marks were granted this pension by First Lady Shiranthi
Rajapaksa at a ceremony held to mark the International Day of the Girl
Child at the BMICH recently.
An SLSSB spokesman said this is a worthy investment that parents can
make on behalf of their children.
Accordingly, parents can make a deposit for their children under 18
years and the children will be eligible for the pension after attaining
18 years.
The pension will be paid at the age of 60.
Parents of those who like to contribute to the pension plan on behalf
