A group of geologists discovered a huge water fountain while digging
the earth to build a tube well at Hiripitiya.
Geologist J K Wickremarathne said this water fountain is releasing
4,000 litres of water per minute.
“Digging has been carried out for several months. After digging 217
feet, this water fountain was found,” Wickremarathne said.
“The water column rose up to 20 feet from the ground. Residents in
and around the area rushed to the place to see the water fountain. Herds
of cattle gathered there to drink water,” he said.
