A man close to nature
Hemantha Dep
Businessnan Kirby De Lanerolle is a man with a mission. He firmly
believes in the old adage 'Health is Wealth'.
He emphasizes that spiritual strength could be derived by exposing
ourselves to elements, such as, sun light, air, trees and abstaining
from food contaminated with artificial fertilizer.
Lanarole who has abstained from partaking food for the past three
months, is conducting research on nurturing spiritual and physical
fitness by following various yogi and meditation practices.
“Man is used to having three meals per day. This is the end result of
faulty thinking, which leads to ill-health and disease.
“Some are addicted to liquor, which results in the shortening of the
life span. These people have become slaves to their own actions.
He stressed that the time is opportune to enjoy the spiritual
benefits that could be derived from being close to nature. “Discipline
is the key to a good and successful life. It creates a healthy mind and
body,” he said.
“We should be able to identify our feelings and work in harmony with
nature, he said.
Lanerole, who is also a social worker participated in a marathon held
recently, succeeded in completing the race of 21.09 kms.
He further said it is our responsibility and duty to offer to others
whatever we receive. We need to be far-sighted to live a healthy life.
We should be able to make sacrifices to realize this objective. “The
mind and soul should be well disciplined to achieve this. Man has become
very greedy. Those who over-eat are prone to various types of diseases,”
he said.
“Our ancestors were very healthy. There was no environmental threat
in those days. We are now faced with an enormous environmental threat
and should clearly understand the gravity of the problem. Hence, it is
imperative to ensure that we pay utmost attention to make our
surroundings more conducive for living.
“We should fully understand the endowment mother nature has bestowed
on us and try to inculcate the spiritual strength required to make a
brighter future for mankind,” Lanerole said.
