One of the biggest and grandest events; the Oktoberfest will take
center stage at the Hilton Colombo’s Sports Centre Arena from November 1
to the 10. A record of more than three thousand reservations has been
taken by the hotel before it was even announced to the public of the
event ensuring how enthusiastic and eager people are to experience the
‘authentic Oktoberfest that Hilton Colombo is always famous for.
The energetic Bavarian band is especially flown in from Germany for
this event. There will be three German serving girls and the event will
set the tone for a feast of celebrations. The traditional authentic,
Bavarian recipes are prepared by Cargills Master Chef Stephan Ferdinand
together with Executive Chef Rohan Fernandopulle. There will be over
nine varieties of specially made brews.
Last year more than 15,000 sausages, 960kg of pork knuckles, 890 nos
of roast chicken had been prepared for Oktoberfest enthusiastic diners.
This year there will be special features such as a kiddies play area,
LED wall screening the original Oktoberfest footage from Munich and the
marquee will be 180 feet long, double the size from last year. Guests
can expect a totally different look compared to previous years.
In addition to the above, interesting traditional Oktoberfest games
such as power hammer, wrestling, dancing on tables, hat games, chicken
dance and tug of krieg (tug -o -war) are planned for the promotion.
“So far we have over 3000 reservations for this year’s Oktoberfest.
Everyone’s interest in taking part in the celebrations is clearly
noticeable. This time is going to be bigger and better with a separate
play area for kids as well”, General Manager Rudolf Troestler said. |
