Stage set for Colombo Motor Show 2012

The International Motor & Accessories Exhibition well known as the Colombo Motor Show will stake stage during October 26-28 at the BMICH from 10 am to 10 pm. Asia Exhibition and Conventions is presenting the motor extravaganza to the nation for the fifth consecutive year.

The show has been recognised by Sri Lankans, as the largest imported vehicle show, parts and services hub in the industry and the biggest motor industry rendezvous in Sri Lanka.

Sujeewa Suriyaarachchi, Chairman, Colombo Motor Show Organizing Committee said the International Motor & Accessories Exhibition is not only a exhibition. “people are bored about the concept of exhibitions. But this is different. This is a mega event with a host of entertainment that everyone in the family could enjoy. This was evident with the large numbers that participated in the show last year which exceeded 50,000. For this year's show, we expect the participation of over 60,000. Its anybody's childhood dream to own a vehicle or to go for a new one. This is a great opportunity for such folk to fulfil their dreams,”he said.

Asia Exhibition and Conventions, Business Promotions & Media Advertising Director Dinesh Fernando said the International Motor & Accessories Exhibition is the grand motor industry meeting place held under one roof in Sri Lanka. Almost all vehicle dealers and vehicle service providers get together at this show he said.

At the Colombo Motor Show 2012, visitors could meet all vehicle dealers and vehicle service providers under one roof, he said.

Sources said, last year over 50,000 plus participated in the mega motor show and this year over 60,000 plus is expected to participate during the three days of the event. Amazing entertainment features would be added in this year's show. A variety of vehicle displays, motor cars, motor bikes, 4x4 jeeps, classic vanguard car archive, water boats and sports equipment, finance and leasing companies, motor insurance companies, spare parts, audio and video kits, vehicle cleaning equipment, tyres, batteries, vehicle security systems, and a number of stalls under numerous motor subjects are offered to guests.

The 1,000 km rally organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) starts on October 26 and ends on 28 at BMICH.

The other mega show which is performed once a year, the International 4 x 4 Challenge of Sri Lanka (Taprobana 4x4 challenge 2012) show's prize giving will also take place at the exhibition. Massive 4x4 jeeps categories would be exhibited at the same time.

Bike stunts will be performed by young bike riders at the exhibition ground. This will be held at 4 pm daily. Colombo Motor Show 2012 would be a great weekend or day out for families and for all young crowds. A DJ rock concert, food, and other facilities will also be offered to guests at the venue.
