Colours Award ceremony of Girls’ High School, Kandy

The Annual Colours Award Ceremony of Girls High School, Kandy was
held at the Constance Mallet Hall of the School on October 7, 2012 under
the patronage of the Minister of Sports, Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
The Guest of Honour was the 1972 Games Captain of the School, Nirmala
Pilapitiya.
The Director of Education, Kandy E. Ekanayake and the Director of
Physical Education, Kandy Gamini Obeysekera were also present.
Colours were awarded for Athletics, Badminton, Hockey, Volleyball,
Basketball, Carrom, Chess and Swimming.
The highest award for Sports called ‘Super Magnificent Star’ was
awarded to Dinushki Premanath and Irudu Basnayake for Chess.
Merit awards were awarded to 24 students, half colours were awarded
to 59 students, Colours to 47, Rising Stars for 7 students, Splendid
stars for 4 students, Magnificent star for one student and Super
Magnificent Star for 2 Students.
It was a historical day for the Girls High School, Kandy as on that
day the Minister donated a Cheque for Rs. 12 Million to construct a
Gymnasium. |
