Kenya dump Australia out of Gold Coast Sevens
Rugby minnows Kenya scored a try in the last second of normal time to
down Australia 21-14 and send the host nation crashing out of the Gold
Coast Sevens quarter-finals on Sunday.
The African nation will now take on powerhouse New Zealand in the
semi-finals after the All Blacks overcame stubborn resistance from
Argentina to win 12-7. The New Zealanders came back from a 7-5 half-time
deficit to claim the win, with captain DJ Forbes’ second-half try the
difference in a tight contest.
Fiji kept alive their hopes of defending their Gold Coast title when
they outclassed Pacific neighbours Samoa 19-7.
They will now face the impressive South Africans, who were never
troubled in their 26-14 win over France.
The Gold Coast tournament is the opening leg of the IRB’s Sevens
