Sri Lanka win Plate Championship

Sri Lanka won the Plate Championship of the Mumbai Rugby Sevens as
they beat Malaysia by 22 points (one goal and three tries) to 17 (one
goal and two tries) in extra time in the final after the scores red 17
all at full time.
Srinath Sooriyabandara scored the match winning try for Sri Lanka. In
the semi-finals, Sri Lanka beat Philippines by 31 points (three goals
and two tries) to 19 (two goals and a try).
Sri Lanka were relegated to the Plate Championship when they were
knocked out by Hong Kong in the Cup quarters in the morning and Hong
Kongh went on to bag the Cup Championship with a smashing 28-7 win over
the mighty Japan in the final. |
