Bhikku arrested for fraud

Ihala Lelwala Sanasa Development Bank of Wanduramba, Galle president, a bhikku who is alleged to have defrauded assets of the bank to the value of Rs. 1.9 million was arrested by the Galle Police Special Fraud Investigation Unit on Friday following a complaint by the Sanasa members.

The suspect who has allegedly mortgaged the bank’s vehicle on a Rs. One million lease to a private finance institution and defrauded members’ savings deposit money to the value of Rs. 900,000, following investigations was to be produced before Galle Chief Magistrate yesterday.
