Intl’ Girls Day ceremony
The first ceremony to mark the International Girls’ Day be held at
9.00 a.m tomorrow at the Anuradhapura Dulyana Hotel, under the patronage
of North Central Province Governor, Karunaratna Divulgane.
The event is being organized by the Provincial Ministry of Health,
Indigenous Medicine, Social Welfare, Probation and Childcare, Women’s
Affairs and Transport in collaboration with Plan Sri Lanka Institute.
The launching of a global project will also be held.
Free Chinese medical clinic
A free Chinese medical clinic conducted by a team of specialist
Chinese doctors will be held at the Kelettewa Samadhi Maha Viharaya from
October 13 to 16 organized by the Viharadhipati Ven. Dr. Rambukewela
Gnanasiha Nayake Thera.
Shanthi Nikethan artistes to perform here
Teachers from Shanthi Nikethan Vishwa Bharati of Kolkata will arrive
in Sri Lanka today to participate in a Dance Music Concert organized by
the Nikethan’s old students in Sri Lanka.
The concert will be held on October 16 at the John De Silva Memorial
Theater in Colombo from 6.30 pm.
Ten teachers from Vishwa Bharati, versed in music and dance will
perform with their former students during this Dance Music Concert.
Former Shanithi Nikethan student, Shanthi Nikethan Friends of Sri
Lanka president, dancer-choreographer Chandana Wickremesinghe has
invited the art instructors from Shanhi Nikethan, India to perform. –

Girl killed by stone
Yasaratne GAMAGE
A five year old girl, R A Gisini Aravindana Senaratne of
Manathunkanda, Balangoda died when a rock fell on her at victim’s home
on Saturday. Police said the girl was with her mother, who was trimming
a hedge in the back garden, when a rock suddenly fell on her.
Investigations are continuing. |
