TRCSL launches new telecom journal
A new Telecommunication Journal, FutureTel was launched by the
Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) on October
2 in Colombo at the opening of the 12th Global Symposium for Regulators,
International Conference of International Telecommunication Union (ITU),
hosted by TRCSL.
The new journal is intended to be a valuable resource for academics,
researchers, engineers, and other professionals in the telecommunication
and ICT sectors.
A brain child of TRCSL Director General Anusha Palpita, his concept
was translated into a workable proposition within a short time by TRCSL
consultant and founding Editor of the new journal Dr Manodha Gamage.
Dr Manodha is also the Chief Editor of Future Tel. TRCSL chairman
Lalith Weeratunga in his message to the journal said: “The launch of
FutureTel is a moment of pride for the institution. It fulfills a long
felt need of the fast paced and constantly evolving telecommunications
industry in Sri Lanka. Progress in the highly competitive
telecommunications industry requires staying abreast with innovatives.
Information being a source of power, acquiring an edge over competition
is helped by regular reading of industry related literature”.
Palpita in his message to the journal said: “As the regulator, we
have established a good rapport with the stakeholders of the
telecommunications industry, through regular meetings and consultations
where their views in relation to problem areas and suggestions for
improvement of the regulatory environment are given a patient hearing
and wherever possible acted upon in the larger interest of the industry.
This journal will further enhance the interactive process between the
TRCSL and the various stakeholders, in addition to providing a platform
for dissemination of news of happenings and all round development taking
place in the telecommunication sphere of activity in the country”.
This journal initially will be published once in six months with an
expectation of releasing it sometime in the future as a quarterly
Journal. It contains in the inaugural issue 15 articles on topics
relevant to the current phase of the telecommunication sector in Sri
Lanka. |
