War - devastated properties to be restored - Devananda
Action will be taken to fully restore properties destroyed during the
war to put the country back on the development track as hopes of the
people are ripe with the dawn of peace, Traditional Industries and Small
Enterprise Development Douglas Devananda said.
The minister was speaking at a ceremony to hand over to the people,
the restored paddy store at Konavil area belonging to the Kilinochchi
Akkarayan Multi-purpose Co-operate Society, destroyed during the war.
The paddy store was restored at over Rs 4.3 million under the Uthuru
Vasanthaya programme launched by the Economic Development Ministry.
Devananda said he understood the difficulties the people had under
gone through during the period of terror while travelling along the
dilapidated roads in the area.
He assured the government would restore all needs of the people
deprived due to the war.
The minister requested the people to join hands with the government
to reap the benefits of development.
He said he would direct his attention to provide the Multipurpose
Co-operative Society with its vehicular requirement and electricity to
the area.
Jaffna district MP and Deputy Chairman of the Committees of
Parliament Murugesu Chandrakumar, Kilinochchi district Government Agent
Rupawathy Ketheeswaran and Local Government and North Co-operatives
Secretary Madumathy Vasantha Kumari also participated. |
