Havies in semis as they tame Air Force 43-5

Havies (Havelocks SC) humbled Air Force by massive 43 points (four
goals and three tries) to 5 ( one try) victory in the quarter-final
match worked off at their home grounds yesterday and booked a semi final
berth in the inter-club Dialog Clifford Cup knockout rugby tournament.
Home team opened the account with an unconverted try from Sudarshan
Muthuthanthri and Niva Taeusea scored the second try for Havies which
was successfully converted by William Hakolo. Havies led 12-0.
Soon after Lahiru Weerasinghe scored the first and only try for the
Airmen, but the conversion went astray.
Havies added a goal and a try before the breather through Dhiren
Warnakulasuriya and Tauseau which gave them much confidence.
Havies dominated the match from the beginning and were 19 points
ahead at the half time (24-5). Airmen tried hard but did not able to
make inroads to the game against strong Park Club team.
Tauseau touched down the line for the third time soon after the
second half begun and the extra points came with successful conversion.
Havies led 31-5. Fly half Niroshan Fernando scored his first try for
Havies and Niva Tauseau put the finishing touches with his fourth try
which was converted by him self . Havies won 43-5
Havies will meet Upcountry Lions in their semi-final match at
Havelock Park on October 3 (Wednesday). |
