Drunk driver kills woman
A speeding car driven by a person under the
influence of liquor crashed into a three wheeler killing a 63 - year
- old woman on the spot and injuring her two sons, one of whom was
the three wheeler driver. The three wheeler after being hit by the
car was thrown off its path and crashed into a lorry.

Anuradhapura Police arrest long-time ransom taker
The Anurahapura Police on Saturday tipped off by
North Central Provincial Council Minister H B Semasinghe, arrested a
suspect who had been demanding a ransom from long-distance private
buses that travel via Anuradhapura.

Finnish woman sexually abused
A suspect who committed a sexual offence on a
sixty six year old Finnish woman in Hikkaduwa, was arrested by the
Hikkaduwa police and produced before the Additional Magistrate Galle.
He was later released on bail of Rupees five thousand in cash and
Rupees two lakhs in personal bail.
