Blood donation

A blood donation campaign organized by K.M.G. Group of Companies will be held for the fourth consecutive year at Hettipola community hall (Prajasala) tomorrow (September 23) from 9 am to 1pm.

A free medical camp has also been organized on the same day.

Mashaik Feast

The annual Grand Feast of Sheikh Hassan bin Ossmanul Magdoomy of Dharga Town commenced with the flag hoisting on September 17. The recital of Mashaikh Rathib will continue for eight days.

This will conclude on September 25 with a night feast, Mashaik Rathib and Ziyyaram at mid-night.

The grand feast will be held at noon on September 26 at the Shrine of Sheik Hassan bin Ossman Magdoomy at Main Street, Dharga Town, Aluthgama The Majlis will be presided by Seyyed Aslam Jiffry bin Seyyed Abdur Rahman Jiffry Mowlana.

The recital of Mashaik Rathib could be viewed on http://www.ustream.tv/channel/pmmhotspot daily after 8pm.

Maternity clinic opening

The renovated and rehabilitated maternity clinic at Vishvamadu, Mullaitivu will be opened by Hambantota district Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and officially handed over to the Health Department and residents tomorrow.

The maternity clinic was rehabilitated under a programme sponsored by Excise Commissioner General Wasantha Hapuarachchi and his officials under the Uthuru Vasanthaya programme to mark the Excise Department's centenary.

Tagore Day at Sri Palee

A ceremony to pay tribute to poet and Nobel Prize winner Rabindranath Tagore, organised by the Principal, students and past pupils of Sri Palee College, Horana will be held at the college on September 25. Tagore laid the foundation stone to establish Sri Palee on the lines of Santhiniketan.

The ceremony will be held under the patronage of Good Governance and Infrastructure Senior Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka and MP Vidura Wickramanayaka. Indian High Commissioner Ashok K Kantha will be the guest of honour.

National Literary Festival

The National Literary Festival and cultural celebrations organised by the Panadura Divisional Secretariat and National Heritage Ministry Cultural Affairs Department will be held at the Panadura Town Hall on September 24 from 9am at the Panadura Town Hall.

Sinhala Writers' Organisation president Dr Leel Gunasekera will be the Chief Guest. Panadura Divisional Secretary K G Wijesiri will chair the sessions.

Big weekend

A weekend full of entertainment and promotions will be held at Crescat Boulevard. The event titled The Big Weekend will be held monthly.

This month's event began yesterday and continue today and tomorrow. Performances by ELIXIR, Dave Free Roberts and Dilan Jayakody have been lined up.

Irrigation Dept Ex-Officers' Assn AGM

The 10th Annual General Meeting and get-together of the Irrigation Department Ex- Officers' Association will be held at Randiya Hotel, Koralawella, Moratuwa on September 30 at 10am.

Open Mic Competitive Poetry Slam

The Open Mic Competitive Poetry Slam season vii will be held at the American Centre Auditorium on September 27 at 3.30pm.

Session 1 is for participants aged 12 and below and session 2 is for participants aged 13 and above. The best performer and an audience choice of each session will receive awards.

Entrance is free.

Musical show

Dakshina Gee Miyasya, a musical show by Sengawunu Ridma musical group of disabled artistes will be held at the Karapitiya College of Education auditorium tomorrow afternoon.

Southern Province Governor Kumari Balasooriya, Senior Minister Piyasena Gamage and Southern Province Chief Minister Shan Wijeyalal de Silva will be the Chief Guests.

The Annual General Meeting of the Alumni Association, University of Kelaniya will be held at Indra Hotel, Kadawatha today.
