An extraordinary victory given to the President - MEP

The people of Sri Lanka has approved the government’s way of activities of governing, once again this is evident by the results of the recent Provincial Council elections of the three provinces – North Central, Eastern and Sabaragamuwa.

The ruling United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) swept the three Provinces, Water Supply and Drainage Minister and Leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Dinesh Gunawardena issuing a press release said.

It said: The Major Opposition – The United National Party, never had any discussion or debate about the democratic and people-friendly political ways of the governing party. But tried to mislead the people through conspiracies and plotting. They also tried their utmost to outdo the people’s peaceful living and win the elections with bogus promises which the people entirely rejected.

The malicious propaganda and intimidation by the Opposition Parties were fully rejected and ignored by the people. They also rejected the Eelam propaganda for dividing this country.

The people accepted the future activities of the United People’s Freedom Alliance led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and gave an overwhelming victory to the ruling party by completely rejecting the wrongful propaganda – both local and foreign.
