An incident of post-election violence is reported from the North
Central Province where a victorious UNP candidate allegedly attacked a
defeated candidate of the same Party by storming his house with a group
of about 30 supporters around 11.30pm on Monday.

Two persons injured in the alleged attack named Chandrasiri, 45, and
Prasad, 32, have been admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital.
According to the complaint made to the Anuradhapura Police by the
defeated candidate E M Lalith Edirisinghe, his house near Hathuruswela
Vidyalaya in Saliyapura had been allegedly attacked by victorious
candidate Aruna Buddhika Gunasekera and his supporters numbering about
30 with arms, clubs and stones causing damage to two vehicles parked
outside and injury to two of his supporters.
He has said his wife Nilinka and a brother were also assaulted during
the attack and the four and a half sovereign gold necklace worn by his
wife was also lost during the attack.
Anuradhapura Police investigating the incident said a supporter of
Anura Buddhika Gunasekera, injured in the attack is also receiving
treatment at the Anuradhapura Hospital.
No arrests have been made so far.
