Fund raising musical show for LRH

The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRHC)is to be upgraded and made the best Dengue treatment centre in Asia, Lady Ridgeway Hospital Director and Friends of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Association President Dr Rathnasiri Hewage said.

He said about 2,700 children had admitted to the hospital for dengue treatment since the beginning of this year upto now. Among them 358 subjected to Dengue hemorrhagic fever, 31 had subjected to dengue shock syndrome and 12 children had died from Dengue.

The government is to allocate funds for this mission with an extra investment from the hospital to procure latest technological equipment and advanced communication systems. The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Association has organized a musical show titled ‘Suwasara Gee Miyesiâ’ on September 23, 6 pm onwards at the Musaeus College New Auditorium to collect funds accomplish this mission.

The musical show would also be used as an opportunity to make people aware on Dengue fever. Well known artistes Dr Victor Ratnayake, Sunil Edirisinghe, Nirosha Virajini and Amal Perera are to perform at the event. The music is provided by Dr Rohana Weerasinghe and the script is made by Bandula Nanayakkarawasam.

The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Association was started in 2008 under the guidance of First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and the Health Ministry. With the intervention of the First Lady, the hospital is to receive an MRI scanner valued about Rs 200 million from the People’s Republic of China as a donation.

The Association is also constructing a Day Care Centre for children within the hospital premises. The material resources of the hospital have also been improved with the funds collected through various means.

Tickets for the event valued Rs 5,000, 3,000, 2,000, 1,000, 500 can be obtained from Salaka, Sarasavi (Borella/Nugegoda) Sadeepa (Borella), Lady J Institute, Fashion Bug (Borella), and the ticket counter and Director Office of the hospital. Further information can be reached at 077 0513057.
