During the war, all these villages were within the High Security Zone. However, lands are now returned to their original owners. Accordingly, 650 families were resettled on this day.

The ceremony to mark the resettlement was held at Veemangamam College in Valikaman North. Electricity supply to the homes of the newly resettled was launched by the minister.

Agricultural implements and seeds necessary for the continuance of livelihoods too were distributed by the minister.

The minister said despite difficulties the government was experiencing in catering to the needs of the newly resettled and those to be resettled, it will go ahead uninterrupted with its plans until all the displaced persons are resettled and every resettled family is provided with facilities for sustenance.

State officials including the Divisional Secretary of Valikamam North participated in this event.
