Lightning Bolt strikes London 2012

Jamaican Usain Bolt not only became the fastest man at the London 2012 Games but also emerged as the fastest man ever in the 116-year-old history of the Olympic Games. The sprint merchant from the Caribbean once again underlined his supremacy with another ‘rocket-style’ speed to bag the men's 100m gold medal with a record breaking performance at the Olympic Stadium here last night.

Sri Lanka's Sonali Christine Merril clocked a season's best 57.15 seconds, yet she finished last in first round heat five of women's 400m hurdles at the XXXth Olympic Games at Olympic Stadium here last night. Her timing was well behind her personal best timing of 56.83 registered in Japan last year.

China makes clean sweep in badminton

Invincible China made a clean sweep in the Olympic badminton competition at the Wembley Arena, winning all five gold medals that were on offer. In addition, they won two silver medals and a bronze to make it a total of eight medals while Denmark, Japan and Malaysia had a silver medal each.
