Ananda Balikans to showcase talents

The students of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya, Maradana, are readying to
showcase their inspiring aesthetic capabilities on stage.
Swaranjalee 2012 will be a collection of aesthetic recitals which
will reveal the singing talents of Anandians of many decades since the
1960s. This historical musical show will be held on August 12 at 5pm at
Kularatne Hall of Ananda Vidyalaya. It will be held with the
participation of the Education Minister Bandula Gunawardene and the
Cultural Affairs and the Arts Minister T B Ekanayaka. It is an outcome
of the sheer organizing skills of the Junior Old Girl's Association of
the school. Combining the aptitudes of artistes of many decades,
Swaranjalee 2012 would carve the artistic brilliance of the old girls of
the school.
The two main objectives of the show, according to the school
principal, R A M R Herath, are to felicitate outstanding Sri lankan
female vocalist Malani Bulathsinghala who was an old girl of Ananda
Balika Vidyalaya and teacher in the same school for more than 10 years
and another senior singer of 1960/70s Chandra Silva who is also an Old
girl of the school.
Representing different decades, Sandya Bulathsinhala, Sanjeewani
Weeresinghe, Indika Upamali and Senani Panchamaduri will be performing
their talents on the stage. Apart from these stars, there will be many
other popular singers to perform. Some of them are Kasun Kalhara, Amal
Perera Kamal Addaraarachchi, Chalaka Chamupathi, Madumadawa Aravinda,
Nelu Adikari, Kapila Pugalaarachchi and Masha Janatha Priyantha
Seneviratne. The specialty is, all these singers are willing to perform
free of charge.

Compering of the show will be done by Ransi Ranasingha, an old girl
of the school. The principal emphasized that, Swaranjalee would be a
colourful and unique presentation of the Old Ananda girls and the
current students who will present the dancing performance to the songs.
"This is a very good opportunity to the old girls and current students
of the school to show their talents and to entertain the people
purposing increasing the funds to the school.
This would help develop the cooperation among the past students and
also the present girls.
And mainly we are very much grateful to all the senior artistes who
are willing to perform free of charge.” she noted. |
