Positive change in political culture needed - Minister Weerawansa

A positive change of the prevailing political culture is a crying
need, said Construction Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa.
Participating in the opening ceremony of the head office of the
Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra Punaruda Foundation at Kolonnawa
recently, Minister Weerawansa said Cabinet approval has been granted to
conduct local government elections under the wards system. But
unfortunately it has not been fulfilled, as some politicians in the
government and opposition parties were not agreeable for the diction.
“All of us should be united to change the existing political system
for the betterment of the country. People expected a positive structural
change in the politics after end of the war. But, still the government
couldn't achieve the first step of the process of changing the political
system as some people try to find advantages and disadvantages of the
new system.” the minister said.
He also said crime has become a popular topic in Sri Lanka.
