People’s Committees to assist Police
Measures are being taken to set up Special
Advisory Committees at police divisional level with limited
authority to enable the Police and the public to interact in a
friendly atmosphere and wherein the Police will be furnished with
information on criminals, with the larger objective of combating
crime.

TNA candidate revealed as kingpin in human smuggling racket
Three persons, including a candidate for the
upcoming Provincial Council elections in the Eastern Province, were
arrested by the CID in connection with a mega human smuggling racket
where more than Rs 25 million had been swindled from unsuspecting
