Five suspects including a Police officer of Nawalapitiya Police were remanded by Nawalapitiya Magistrate Deepthi Kodithuwakku for allegedly raping a 15-year- old girl.

On July 2, a threewheeler driver and a trader's son took the girl to a hotel and molested her after offering a drink which made her to get fainted.

The trishaw driver took her to the trishaw saying that her mother is waiting for her in the Nawalapitiya town. After couple of days, they had sent her back in a bus with some money. She had informed the Police through the 119 emergency service. A police officer who responded, came and took her to a hotel and allegedly raped her along with the trishaw driver. The girl had came to Nawalapitiya hospital. Security officers noting abnormal behaviour of the girl had informed to Police.
