NCPA, NYSC to fight child abuse

"The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) and the National
Youth Services Council (NYSC) will launch a new programme to help reduce
child abuse in the country," NCPA chairman Anoma Dissanayake said. This
programme is a result of a recent discussion held between the NCPA and
NYSC chairmen on working together to create a safer atmosphere for the
younger generation by reducing child abuse.
"The main aim of this programme is to bring the important message of
protecting children from child abuse to the attention of society,
through the NYSC Youth Societies. Youth Society members will assist the
NCPA educate the public on the value of safeguarding children and
reducing child abuse.
The awareness campaign will begin at village level," Dissanayake
said.
