Parents arrested in child deal

A man and a woman who tried to sell their six-day-old infant to a couple were arrested by Puttalam Police on Monday. The Police led investigations after a complaint lodged on Monday by a man in Palaviya stating that their six-day-old infant was missing since July 13.

The complaint further stated that the complainant suspects that the infant had been kidnapped. Later the Police found that the person who lodged the complaint together with his wife had sold the baby to another couple. Another person had brokered the deal.

When the couple who received the infant refused to pay the money they promised, the suspects went to the Police to lodge a false complaint.

The Police arrested the third suspect who aided in the deal. The infant has been admitted to Puttalam hospital. (YG)
